Surprisingly, a touch more complicated to make a good melee system. Was reading up on how other people handled melee in side-scrollers. A lot suggested changing the collision box of the sprite itself… changing its rule from taking damage to dealing it.
I just made a ‘projectile’ that’s the area of my sword slash. It’s position is tethered to its parent. Literally, it’s physics just set it’s position relative to the parent.
Result: slashing some zombies. Now to implement the true ‘equipment’ system.
